The Foundation’s mission is to support and empower those working to bring about high impact and sustainable social change that improves communities and lives. To carryout this mission, the Foundation seeks to provide support through resources, thought leadership, and networking opportunities in addition to providing social entrepreneurs with pro bono legal assistance from Lex Mundi member firms.

Nicaragua and Honduras are among the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere with fifty percent of the rural population living below the national poverty line. A large majority of the impoverished population in these countries lives in rural areas, where access to basic services is limited. In addition to living in remote areas and possessing little purchasing power, most rural families continue to live without access to clean drinking water and have little opportunity to generate income.

The 10th Annual Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation Awards were presented during the 2019 Lex Mundi Leadership Summit and Annual Conference in London. In order to provide compelling pro bono opportunities to Lex Mundi member firms around the world, the Foundation relies on collaborating organizations to help us source vetted, high-impact social entrepreneur clients. These organizations are on the front lines of supporting, funding, and accelerating the world’s leading social entrepreneurs. We team with these collaborators to provide the critical pro bono legal support that their respective social entrepreneur cohorts rely on to scale their impact. The International Labor Organization estimates that nearly 25 million children and adults of all ages and backgrounds are victims of human trafficking, including forced labor and sex trafficking, worldwide. It will take a widespread effort by governments, businesses, and other stakeholders to stop these heinous crimes.
